Invisalign Cost in the UK: What You Pay For, and Why

What Invisalign costs in the UK and why: the aligner count your scan sets, retainers, refinements, 0% finance, and what a cheap price is buying.

Designer Smiles, Solihull · 28 September 2026

Ask ten UK practices what Invisalign costs and you can get ten different numbers, some of them thousands of pounds apart, for what looks like the very same clear plastic. Here is the curious thing, though: a great deal of that gap comes down to one question nobody puts in the headline, which is how many aligners the price actually buys.

How much does Invisalign cost in the UK?

At Designer Smiles, Invisalign starts from £999 for Invisalign Express, seven aligners for minor movements or teeth that have drifted a little since a brace. Most smiles fall into one of four plans above that, and the 3D scan at your free consultation decides which one is yours.

Here are today’s prices, side by side:

Plan The kind of case it is for Price
Invisalign Express Seven aligners: minor movements, or a little drift since a brace From £999
Invisalign Lite Small gaps, mild crowding, a bite that is fine or nearly fine £2,195
Invisalign Moderate Crowded teeth, gappy teeth, a mild overbite or underbite £2,495
Invisalign Comprehensive Severe crowding, significant gaps, a bigger bite correction £2,895
Invisalign Complex The most involved cases, needing the most aligners £3,295
Tooth whitening and retainers With every plan: whitening to brighten the new straight smile, and a set of removable retainers to keep it Free

So that is the answer in a table. The far more useful part is why the rows climb the way they do, because once you see it, every Invisalign price you have ever been quoted suddenly makes sense.

Why does one person pay so much more than another?

Think of a flipbook, the little cartoon you flick with your thumb. Each page is a fraction different from the last, and a longer animation simply needs more pages.

Invisalign works in exactly that way. Every aligner is made to your own teeth from the scan, and each one is a tiny step further along than the one before, a fraction of a millimetre at a time, because small steady movements are what teeth handle best. A tooth that only needs nudging into line gets there in a handful of steps. A whole arch of crowding, or a bite that needs correcting, takes a great many more.

So the number of aligners is the number of pages in your flipbook, and that number is what sets the price. You can see it in the table: Express is seven aligners, and each plan above it carries more of them, because its teeth have further to go.

Now, here is the lovely part. You do not have to guess which row you are in. The scan at the consultation becomes a 3D model of your own teeth moving, stage by stage, into their finished position, and every stage of that journey is there to see. Your price comes off that plan, and you are looking at it in writing before you agree to anything.

The number of steps also sets your calendar, and if the months matter to you as much as the money, our guide on how long Invisalign takes goes through them case by case.

What is actually inside an Invisalign price?

When you pay for Invisalign you are paying for two things, and only one of them is the plastic.

The first is the aligners themselves, a whole series of them, each one made for your mouth alone. The second is the dentist, and that is the bigger part of the story. Before any tooth moves, someone has to look properly at your teeth and gums, take x-rays, and check that aligners will do what you want at all; gum disease and decay are sorted first, because teeth travel best through healthy gums. Then the case is planned from the scan, tooth by tooth. Then, all the way through, you come back in at intervals so the movement is checked against the plan while any drift is still tiny and easy to put right.

Every plan on our Invisalign page includes the consultation, the scans, the plan on screen and those reviews along the way, with free tooth whitening once the teeth are straight and a free set of removable retainers at the end. That matters when you are comparing prices, because a lower figure somewhere else is only lower if it buys the same things.

Along the way, some teeth get small tooth-coloured attachments so the aligners have something to grip, and chewies, little squashy cylinders you bite on, are a common way to press each new aligner fully home. If you are curious what those are, we have written about attachments, chewies and elastics in plain English.

What about refinements?

When you reach the last aligner in a series, your dentist compares where your teeth really are with where the plan said they would be. Often the two pictures agree. Sometimes one tooth is still a whisker short of where the plan put it. A refinement is a short extra run of aligners, made from a fresh scan, to finish it off.

That is ordinary Invisalign, and it happens because the first plan is a very good forecast, while the teeth themselves set the pace. Wear time is the part you control here: aligners only push while they are in, which is why twenty to twenty-two hours a day keeps a plan on track.

So when you are comparing prices, it is a perfectly fair question to ask any practice how refinements are handled in your plan, and a fair thing to want written down beside the figure.

Are retainers extra?

No. A set of removable retainers comes free with every Invisalign plan here, and they are worth understanding, because they are the part that protects everything else you paid for.

Ours are removable and worn at night. If a set is lost or worn out later, a replacement is £150 per arch, so a top and a bottom are two. The reason you need them is rather charming, really. The fibres holding each tooth in its socket stretch as the tooth travels, a bit like a jumper sleeve that has been pulled, and for a long while afterwards they remember the old shape and would like to go back to it. Teeth also drift gently all through life, brace or no brace. A retainer at night simply holds the finished smile where the plan put it, for good.

Why is some Invisalign so cheap?

This is the question behind a great many Invisalign price searches, and the honest answer is kinder and simpler than you might expect.

A “from” price is the price of the smallest case. That is what “from” means, and it is true of ours: £999 is Invisalign Express, seven aligners, named for exactly what it buys. It is made for minor movements, or teeth that have drifted a little since a brace, and a crowded arch simply needs more pages in its flipbook than seven. So the first thing to ask of any low headline price is how many aligners it covers, and whether your teeth need more.

Aligners sold by post are a different thing again, and the price difference there is easy to follow. The plastic is much the same kind of material. What a remote-only kit leaves out is the dentist: the examination and x-rays before anything moves, the reviews in the chair, and someone to look at a tooth that is lagging behind. That is where most of the price difference goes.

And a price well below the market can simply be a practice pricing low on purpose. Delaram Samie, reviewing Designer Smiles on Google, wrote that she had checked so many clinics around the UK and most of them were “quoting me close to” four thousand pounds, and that here she got “the Invisalign treatment and result I wanted” for under two thousand, “using the genuine Invisalign brand.” Claire Cripps put it more briefly: “the price was so good compared to other dentists.”

Can I get Invisalign on the NHS?

No. Invisalign is private treatment everywhere in the UK. NHS orthodontics, where it is offered at all, is for under-18s with a clinical need, and it uses fixed braces.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. 0% finance through Tabeo, over up to twelve months, is available on every plan, and it is arranged at the consultation once your price is known. 0% means nothing is added on top, so the monthly amount is just your plan’s price spread over the months you choose. The practice offers no interest-bearing option at all, so 0% is simply how paying monthly works here.

You will notice we have not printed a monthly figure, and that is deliberate. The only honest one comes out of your own plan.

Is there anything else people spend on afterwards?

Sometimes, and only if you want it. Once the teeth are straight, tooth whitening is included free with every Invisalign plan here, and a few people have worn edges tidied up with composite bonding, from £200 – £250 a tooth, which is separate. The 3D plan can show you the combination before you commit.

If the thing actually holding you back is the thought of it feeling sore, have a read of whether Invisalign hurts; the short version is pressure for a day or two with each new aligner, and then you forget about them.

So what will yours cost?

That is the one number nobody can give you from a table, and it takes one free appointment to find out. You come in, we take the 3D scan of your face and teeth, and you watch your own teeth move to their finished position on screen, with the price for your own case right beside them.
